The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Neurobiology, is seeking a Researcher IV.

General Responsibilities

Working with a high degree of independence: 

  • To oversee projects within the laboratory
  • To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities. 
  • To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data. 
  • To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies. 
  • To help develop long or short-term goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs conventional or real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting.
  • Performs motor and social behavioral experiments.
  • Performs in vitro and in vivo electrophysiological and Ca2+ or voltage-sensitive dye imaging experiments.
  • Analyzes data, build graphs, and write manuscripts.
  • Monitors results and reports unusual outcomes. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Annual Salary Range         $47,486.40 - $85,000.00           

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Doctorate in a related field
    • OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
    • OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
    • OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
