The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a Researcher IV. The Surolia Lab is looking for a well-organized individual who can assist the PI/staff/ students in scientific studies, manage the bio-repository in the laboratory, and perform animal studies.

General Responsibilities

Working with a high degree of independence: 

  • To oversee projects within the laboratory
  • To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities. 
  • To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data. 
  • To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies. 
  • To help develop long or short-term goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees projects within the laboratory and assumes responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities.
  • Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, develops and implements modifications and provides reports or other consultation to management.
  • Contributes to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
  • Supervises and oversees maintenance of lab equipment and orders and supervises lab supplies.
  • Uses advanced knowledge of lab practices to direct and teach others by developing guidelines and conducting face-to-face/virtual training.
  • Collects, enters, summarizes, analyzes and interprets data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Annual Salary Range         $47,486.40 - $66,243.00           

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Doctorate in a related field
    • OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
    • OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
    • OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • Experience with animal studies.
    • Background in Biology.
