The Neuroscience Laboratory of Social Behavior in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (PI: Junghee Lee, PhD) seeks a Researcher IV who is interested in conducting innovative, multidisciplinary research in neurobiological mechanisms of social dysfunction in serious mental illness. The Neuroscience Laboratory of Social Behavior focuses on key mechanisms of social behavior cross-diagnostically and throughout the life span using innovative neuroscientific tools. A Researcher IV will participate in on-going projects on social dysfunction in severe mental illness. The successful candidates will:

  • Have PhD in the field of psychology, neuroscience, or computer science. 
  • Have excellent writing and oral communication skills; and 
  • Work independently and as part of a team. 
  • General Responsibilities

    Working with a high degree of independence: 

    • To oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities.
    • To collect, enter, summarize, analyze and interpret data.
    • To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies and to help develop long or short term goals.

    Annual Salary Range               $47,486.40 - $85,000.00     

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Doctorate in a related field
    • OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
    • OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
    • OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience

     

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in advanced data analytic techniques of neuroimaging data or big data and programming skills in Python, Matlab, R and Unix.
