The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a Researcher III. This position aims to focus on the group's interests in the areas of host-microbial interactions in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, osteoimmunology, and immunometabolic crosstalk. The candidate will be expected to perform lab-associated activities which are not limited to, ordering materials, organizing protocols, reporting progress notes, conducting and depositing lab collections, maintaining tissue cultures, and animal experiments.

General Responsibilities

As directed: 

  • To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
  • To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
  • To develop and improve techniques for the lab.

  Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • Develops and improves techniques for the lab.
  • Contributes to planning/design of studies.
  • Collects, enters, summarizes, and analyzes data.
  • Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, and suggests modifications.
  • May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management.
  • Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  •   Annual Salary Range         $35,570.00 - $40,000.00

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Master's degree in a related field
    • OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience.
    • OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience.

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • A highly motivated and independent candidate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a strong background in Molecular Microbiology and immunology.
    • The candidate must have experience in vivo rodent studies, confocal and fluorescent microscopy, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cellular biochemistry, and molecular biology.
