Researcher (Education Statistics) for American Institutes for Research (AIR) to work at our Chicago, IL location. May telecommute as necessary. Support development, review and reporting of survey and assessment data. Contribute to research on large-scale assessment methodology. Support the review, evaluation and improvement of large-scale assessment operations. Provide written and oral presentation on research questions, findings, and potential impact of research. Contribute to research and reporting teams; including advising and guiding junior analysts, and reporting and informing senior analysts. Communicate methods, results and recommendations to clients and non-technical audience. Work independently and with team and maintain effective working relationship with project staff and clients. Contribute to Research & Development efforts for new business pursuits. Develop and implement protocols for collecting, processing and managing data. Program and test online surveys. Generating descriptive statistics, and conducting basic statistics test. Prepare and review data tables, figures and data documentation. Writing sections of reports, technical documentation and other written deliverables. Proofreading technical and non-technical documents. Work involves attention to detail. Little domestic travel may be involved. May undergo background checks.


Must have a Masters in Statistics, Economics, Education Policy or related social science field and 2 years of experience with survey and experimental data. Requires skills (2 years of experience) in: logistic regression, classification/regression trees, and random forests; model building and validation techniques; and one of the following statistical software packages: R, Stata, or SAS/WPS.
