Summary:
Researcher 1 will play a vital role in conducting experiments for a state-funded project and executing duties to keep the lab running efficiently.

This is a one year appointment, with the possibility of being continued for a second year based on funding.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
75% Independently conduct genetic and molecular experiments. Experiments include phenotypic analysis of C. elegans strains, behavioral assays, small molecule and genetic screens, standard molecular biological al manipulations, recording and analyzing data that includes using and/or writing R scripts, and researching into publications for appropriate background and protocols. 
15% Routine laboratory maintenance: Ongoing work in the lab requires a ready supply of strains, solutions, chemicals and various lab materials; assist in maintaining these supplies and general lab upkeep in order for a functional and efficient lab. train undergraduate students in generating media and solutions. 
5% Archive data, protocols used, and generated reagents. 
5% maintaining and freezing C. elegans strains for current and future experiments

All Required Qualifications Must Be Documented In Application Materials

Required Qualifications:
B.S. or B.A. in biological sciences (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, genetics) or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills, a sense of responsibility and intellectual engagement, as well as attention to detail are essential. A strong willingness and ability to learn new techniques independently are preferred. Experience with C. elegans husbandry and and writing R scripts are an advantage.
