Provides expertise in support of research projects in social science, behavioral science, or humanities, including psychology, sociology, education, etc. Performs advanced testing procedures, data collection, and analysis. Prepares reports. May work with human subjects and contribute to grant proposal development. Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. Understands and applies fundamental theoretical concepts. Develops understanding of advanced theoretical concepts.

    Additional Job Posting Information: 

    The Research on Emotion, Substance Treatment Outcomes, & Racial Equity (RESTORE) Laboratory at the University of Houston's Psychology Department under the direction of Drs. Michael Zvolensky and Brooke Redmond are currently looking for a motivated and committed full-time research assistant to assist with the coordination and data collection process of various research projects. The research assistant will assist with various research projects, including an experimental design study focused on examining the role of microaggressions on smoking behaviors among Hispanic individuals as well as mobile app and computer-delivered interventions aimed to improve anxiety and alcohol use among Hispanic individuals.

    Under the supervision of assigned faculty members, the research assistant will provide supervision of volunteer research assistants; conduct a variety of research procedures; manage the recruitment of research subjects; collect, manage, analyze, and process data; handle regulatory documentation (IRB-related); perform literature reviews; manage lab meetings, engage in data analysis and manuscript preparation, and project coordination.

    Position requirements include:

    • Two-year commitment
    • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Prior research assistant experience
    • Familiarity working with human subjects and with experimental research
    • Spanish fluency Preferred
