Duties will include:

  • Maintaining experimental mouse colony, performing dietary intervention studies in mice models, and updating IACUC protocols.

  • Performing wet-lab experiments, for example, collecting specimens from experimental mice, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, Western blotting, etc.

  • Delivering training to incoming undergraduate research assistants and supporting the research activity of other laboratory members.

  • Assisting the interdisciplinary team with the project's principal investigator, undergraduate assistants, and Ph.D. students.

  • Coordinate ordering, maintaining appropriate inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, labware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab.

  • Organize data/experimental findings for use in technical reports, manuscripts, or oral/written presentations.

Skills:

  • Experience working with mouse models and maintaining an experimental mouse colony is desirable but not required. • Benchwork experience in molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, Western blotting, and histology, is desirable but not required. The competitive applicant should be proactive in learning more biological techniques, including immunohistochemistry, working with diverse teams and communicating research plans, and working effectively and capably in mixed methods studies and approaches of inquiry.
