JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Urban Lab in the Department of Entomology at Penn State seeks a highly motivated technician to perform field and lab-based research on spotted lanternfly behavior and physiology. The candidate will conduct experiments and collect data in areas of high infestation in eastern Pennsylvania (at PSU Berks and in and around vineyards). Duties will include experimental design, implementation, data collection, statistical analysis, results interpretation, and report/manuscript writing. The position will perform insect population monitoring (using traps and/or visual surveys), collecting, physiological measurement, rearing, conducting behavioral assays, and performing general laboratory biology protocols.

This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 4 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must have strong experience with and knowledge of insects, preferably with spotted lanternfly. A driver's license is required for this position.
