Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/wk.
The Research Technologist will be an integral member of a new lab undertaking exciting work that bridges the fields of neuroscience and ophthalmology. Research projects focus on understanding (1) how perturbations in mitochondrial function and metabolism in retinal neurons contribute to retinal neurodegeneration in diabetes using both mouse models of diabetic retinopathy and retinal neurons in culture and (2) how retinal neurons and blood vessels interact in diabetic retinopathy using mouse models and novel culture systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Work semi-independently to design/perform/analyze experiments in a molecular biology research laboratory.
•Collect project data.
•Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
•Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitoring inventory of supplies, cleaning equipment.
