Research Technologist II - Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences

Position Description:

Purpose

Under general direction, carry out experimental work for sponsored research projects, including compilation and analysis of data generated.

Primary Functions

  •   Carry out routine and complex experiments that include but are not limited to cell culture maintenance, histological analyses, microscopy, and expression studies.

  •   Assist in development and implementation of new research protocols.

  •   Monitor inventory and order lab supplies.

  •   Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.

  •   Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and prepare data for publications/presentations.

  •   Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.

Preferred Schedule:
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.

Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills. 

Specifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education:               Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Required Experience:              1 year

Preferred Education:  Biology, Genetics, Embryology

Preferred Experience:  Cell Culture, Histology, Genetics
