Bachelor's degree in a related field and one or more years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Grade ND1. Wage Minimum $15.41/hr. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with cell culture and animal (mouse) models, basic molecular biology techniques
  • Education: Master's degree in a related field of science
  • Experience: At least 1 year of related experience in a laboratory.
Position Description

The Research Technologist II will be performing responsible research work that requires planning and completing limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.  The candidate will calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory equipment, order and maintain lab supplies and take care of animal colony management. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform experimental procedures, record, and consolidate data
  • Using sterile techniques.
  • Cultivation of viruses.
  • Cultivation of cell culture.
  • Maintain mouse breeding colonies.
  • Prepare line culture media for the production, perpetuation, and testing of micro-organisms.
  • Perform routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals, including the performance of surgical procedures and therapeutics or drugs to animals
  • Record keeping: Support scientific investigations by documenting results of experiments; collect, analyze, and summarize data in notebooks and in electronic files for presentations; assist in the preparation of laboratory reports and presentations.
  • Conduct searches in medical literature and databases to summarize information appropriately for a particular study.
  • Select, evaluate, and optimize techniques used in routine research.
  • Follow laboratory and institutional safety protocols and training.
  • Laboratory maintenance tasks: Order laboratory supplies and equipment, maintain laboratory equipment and shared spaces.
  • Train new laboratory personnel on lab specific techniques.
