Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one or more years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Grade ND1 Wage Minimum $15.41/hr

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
  • Possesses a strong foundation in protein and nucleic acid research.
  • Has knowledge and past experience using both digital PCR and RT-PCR platforms.
  • Has at least 6 months of experience in wastewater analysis (viral RNA purification, assessment of total dissolved solids, etc.).
  • Experience handling biospecimens, biobanking, or interest in biomedical research is an advantage.
Position Description

The Research Technologist II will contribute to the design and technical execution of experiments in a biomedical research laboratory. Lab research projects are rooted in the cardiovascular sciences (matrix biology, cardiomyocyte function, and etiological mechanisms of heart failure), but will also include ongoing SARS-CoV-2 surveillance projects in the Division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The technologist will be responsible for planning and carrying out basic biological and biochemical assays (e.g., nucleic acid and protein analyses, immunohistochemistry/histopathology, cell culture, etc.).
  • The technologist will participate in the maintenance of animal colonies (breeding, genotyping, etc.).
  • The technologist will analyze, tabulate, and interpret experimental results.
  • The technologist will be involved in the maintenance, organization, and ordering of laboratory reagents and supplies.
