Position Summary

The newly established Hulin Lab (January 2024) is excited to welcome applications for a Research Technician. They will support projects focused on plant pathogenic bacteria evolution, focused on the interaction of bacteria with mobile genetic elements such as lysogenic bacteriophage.

Laboratory duties will include media and buffer preparation, data entry, plant maintenance and general molecular techniques. Assistance with cloning to generate bacterial mutants as well as support to current laboratory members in their projects including data collection and field work. In addition, helping with laboratory management e.g. ordering, organization of strain collections and protocol documentation will be an important aspect of this role.


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.
