Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology, Genetics, & Immunology seeks a Research Technologist I to work in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Olive. Our laboratory studies how specialized lung alveolar macrophages regulate inflammation and disease. We use both infectious disease models (such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium abscesses) and autoimmunity models (such as environmental exposure induced Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) to devise new strategies to prevent and treat disease. Leveraging a new model of alveolar macrophages coupled with cutting-edge genetic approaches, the successful candidate will become part of a pioneering research team focused on understanding lung inflammatory responses. In this position the candidate will be examining key pathways that control the alveolar macrophage state and understanding how these pathways are differentially required in distinct macrophage subtypes. This is a limited term position funded through 7/31/2025 with no possibility for extension.
