JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The research labs of Emily Davenport in the Department of Biology and Jordan Bisanz in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are seeking to jointly hire a Research Technologist - Life Sciences. The Research Technologist will split their time 50/50 between the two labs, which both specialize in microbiome research and are located in adjacent buildings. 

 

The successful applicant will assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for lab operations to ensure the safety and efficiency of the laboratory. They will coordinate ordering, maintaining appropriate inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, labware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab. Additionally, they will perform molecular biology techniques, such as DNA extraction and PCR, as well as cell culture. Candidates with experience can also contribute to data analysis. The successful applicant is required to adhere to strict work and reporting timelines and is expected to communicate frequently with the direct advisors and lab members. The successful applicant will possess research skills related to microbiology and molecular biology and will have strong organizational abilities. Writing skills should be sufficient to clearly communicate project progression and results in the form of reports to the advisor and/or project collaborators.

Education and Experience

This position will be filled at the level of Professional or Intermediate Professional, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Professional level requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and no relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

This is a limited term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $55,500.00
