Position Details:

Summary of Duties: As the Research Technologist in the Sports Science Laboratory (SSL) you will independently perform investigative scientific procedures on sports gear and equipment using a wide variety of research techniques with project goals; making modifications as needed; while documenting and reducing data pertaining to SSL research; as well as creating reports as requested. Other duties include maintaining and repairing SSL research equipment and tools; assisting with SSL operations; and supervising, coordinating, and training other SSL staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of technology or science and two years experience as a Research Technologist, or equivalent; OR an advanced degree in an appropriate scientific field; OR equivalent education/experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate testing equipment, machines, and shop tools. 

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work well with colleagues, students, and external constituencies

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Excellent communication skills; oral, written, and electronic.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Supervisory experience.

Monthly Salary: Range $3,700 to $4,968 A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 OR applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.  WSU offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes: paid sick and vacation leave; paid holidays; medical, dental, life and disability insurance package for employees and dependents; retirement; deferred compensation and optional supplemental retirement accounts.
