Research Technologist 1, School of Biological Sciences, Vancouver Campus

Assist supervisor and Research Technologist 3 with the design and execution of biomedical experiments on the genetic basis of evolutionary change, including field and laboratory experiments and benchtop molecular biology work.
Assist with conducting field surveys and manipulative field experiments as part of establishing a new model system for evolutionary genetics.
Organize and analyze experimental data that will be presented to the lab team and assist with the preparation of conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Contribute to the analysis of genetic and genomic data.
Co-author peer-reviewed publications, attend workshops of interest, and present research findings at internal and external seminars and/or conferences.
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years experience as a laboratory technician, research aide, OR equivalent; OR a Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience.
A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise and interest in evolutionary biology, genetics, and the analysis of genomic data.
Demonstrated ability to complete scientific research that contributed to peer-review publications.
Experience in the husbandry and maintenance of Drosophila

Work Location and Schedule:

Monthly Salary:
$2,890/month-$3,096/month ($34,680/year-$37,152/year) Range R035. The full range of this classification is $2,890 to $3,821/month, Step A-M. Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
