JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A full time research technologist 1 position is available in the Neural & Behavioral Sciences Department at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa.  The work in this lab will focus on substance abuse and addiction.

The Research Technologist I will be responsible for running behavioral experiments on rodents in the lab. The Technician will be responsible for running behavioral tests, compiling results, and processing reports. The technician will assist in rat surgeries and help provide respective pre and postoperative care.  The technician will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the animals. All work will be conducted in adherence to IACUC policy. The technician must have good organizational skills, ability to follow instructions and work independently.  Some experience with rudimentary data management is essential.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is preferred that the proper candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience or any other related field. 

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position: 

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check 
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History- 
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
