Description
Description: We are seeking 2 technicians for a long-term research project on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta of Alaska that focuses on the evolutionary ecology and population dynamics of Black Brant. Primary duties include searching for and monitoring nests of brant and other waterfowl, reading color-character tarsal bands of marked brant, capturing and banding adult brant and goslings, data entry, and assisting with remote field camp operations. Working hours can be irregular and are often influenced by weather and tides. The field site is on the coast of the Bering Sea and technicians will frequently be working in adverse conditions (e.g., high winds, freezing temperatures, precipitation) and walking long distances in waders on mud flats and coastal vegetation. The project is based out of a remote field camp with limited amenities (e.g., no running water, cellular service, or internet). Eligibility: U.S. citizens and non-citizens that are lawfully authorized to work in the United States.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience monitoring bird nests, capturing and marking waterfowl, operating boats with tiller motors, operating snow machines or ATVs, working in remote field camps, and fixing small engines. We are committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We also strive to provide a safe study, work, and living environment for the field team. Experienced individuals from underrepresented backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
