Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $17/hr

This position reports to the principal investigator on a research project. A Research Technician conducts experimental protocols in order to meet research objectives. Work at this level represents a basic level of scientific contribution involving some theoretical knowledge. A Research Technician performs preliminary analysis of data and may produce graphs and charts for publication.

DUTIES:

  • Perform hands-on synthesis and characterization of organic compounds.
  • Utilize analytical methods to characterize organic molecules and evaluate reaction outcomes (e.g., TLC, GC, HPLC, HRMS, UV-vis, FT-IR, and NMR).
  • Present and reports research results at group meetings.
  • Prepare graphs, graphs, charts and tables from experimental results for inclusion in presentations and publications.
  • Order laboratory equipment, calibrate instruments, and prepare laboratory equipment for use.
  • Keep records of the conduct and outcome of laboratory analyses. May enter data into a database.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health requirements.
  • Monitor the work of student assistants.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on a lab environment.
