Position Summary
The Darville Lab Research Technician assists in the organization and completion of laboratory experiments, as well as, performance of assays with cells and tissues. The technician will perform various cell propogation protocols for both eukaryotic cells and bacteria, and standard molecular
and cell biology techniques. The technician will assist in data processing, statistical analysis, and graphic presentation of data. Additional responsibilities include: preparing and disposing of reagents necessary for research, and maintaining lab inventory, including timely ordering of required supplies. The incumbent will be expected to conduct difficult/complex lab testing, develop methods, and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, and assist the Principal Investigator with grant proposals, reports, and research publications.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience maintaining lab inventory.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field. Direct experience working in a
laboratory setting specializing in human infectious disease preferred.
