Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the PI and other technical staff in executing and reporting scientific experiments designed to understand the role of lung disease on respiratory epithelium function and the development of novel approaches to improve gene therapy delivery to the airway epithelial cells of persons with chronic lung disease. Scientific techniques utilized in this position include, but are not limited to, primary human cell culture, confocal and fluorescence microcopy, in vitro biophysical and biochemical techniques, molecular biology, CRISPR gene editing, and biomedical device development. A partial component of this position is general laboratory management including participation in daily operations including ordering supplies, general record keeping, and compliance with health and safety procedures. 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
 Basic understanding of cell biology and a desire to learn techniques such as cell culturing and biophysical analysis of biopolymers. Team player with good verbal and written skills necessary to communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. Good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and presentation software packages. 
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some prior experience in experimental design and basic laboratory techniques are preferred but not required.
