Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
We are hiring a part-temporary Research Technician in the Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. This position is responsible for maintaining animal strain and conduct experiments using live animals.
  • Animal studies-50% -Maintain a mouse strain for the studies. Perform surgery for the mice to build disease models. Maintain both a drug-induced liver injury animal model and a viral infection mouse model. Conduct surgery for the rats.
  • Measurement for biomarkers – 30% – Various biochemical markers and operating instruments.
  • Data analysis and reporting

    Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
    A PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and biology. Priority will be given to those who have research experience in animal handling mice or small experimental animals. Experience with biomarker analysis is a plus.
