Dr. Gaofeng Xiong’s laboratory at the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, is seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Technician to conduct scientific research in cancer research. The work includes cellular and molecular techniques, and animal handling. The candidate will be expected to conduct research, provide technical assistance to the PI, and help with student training. In addition, the technician will perform performing miscellaneous lab and office duties as assigned by the PI.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science; 1-2 years of relevant experience is required. Experience in a research laboratory is required. Laboratory experience in cloning, molecular biology and cell culture is required. Ability to use Microsoft Office programs required. Understanding of general and specific laboratory procedures, and scientific approach and methodologies. Ability to follow research methodology and protocol. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Desired Experience

Master’s degree in a biological science is preferred. Experience in a cancer research laboratory is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Standing for long periods of time. Pushing/pulling/lifting to 25 pounds. Working with sharps, hazardous chemicals, biohazardous, and if needed with animals.


Additional Information:

Target salary range: $15.29 - $20.41 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
