Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour, up to 20 hrs/week

POSITION SUMMARY: 

A part-time Research Technician position is available at the USF Health Heart Institute. The selected candidate is expected to be involved in projects in regulating cell death pathways to treat cardiovascular diseases. 

DUTIES:

• Assist with inventory, equipment repair ordering, calibration of equipment, compliance, ordering and receiving research supplies, reconciling receipts, laboratory maintenance and support to the PI. Understand and follow USF EH&S compliance and other procedures. 
• Work in Biological Safety Hood, using aseptic techniques, cell culture, cryo-freezing cells, using microscope, digital imaging and measurements using ImageJ and Fuji systems
• Protein extraction from cells and tissues to perform Western blotting
• Cares for laboratory animals. Performs standardized experimental protocols. 
• Ability to collect data in laboratory as assigned by supervisor to perform analysis. 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that the candidate has worked previously as a laboratory assistant in biology, chemistry, and biomedical research.
