Seeking qualified candidate for a Technical Research Coordinator working on multiple studies, including the Biomarkers of Neurodegeneration, Inflammation, and Cognitive Decline Study (BIONIC); Sleep, Neurodegeneration, Network Dysfunction, and Tau Study (SONNET), the Davis Alzheimer Prevention Program, and the Harvard Aging Brain Study. A central task will be to assist in the collection, processing, aliquoting, and banking of biofluids (including blood and cerebrospinal fluid ). In addition, application of cell culture techniques, isolating cell lines, other cell biological assays, neuronal activity assays, Western blotting, and plasmid DNA cloning will be needed in this position. Qualified candidates must have laboratory experience in laboratory medicine, clinical medicine, cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry. This position will be part of a research team with input in overall project design. The team will also collaborate with the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases.
  • Collect, process, label, and store biofluid samples (including blood and cerebrospinal fluid).
  • Under general supervision, perform cell culture, including isolation neurons, iPSCs, iPSC differentiated neurons, and standard immortalized laboratory cell lines.
  • General molecular biology e.g. cloning, plasmid preps, genomic DNA and RNA isolation, PCR
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff in established laboratory techniques.
  • Coordinates daily schedule of experiments.
  • Responsible for data management: collects, records, tabulates and presents data. Creates graphs of experimental, performs statistical tests, and discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    • Must have some experience in biology wet labs (molecular or cell biology or biochemistry, either in a job-related or school/course-related setting). Experience with mammalian cell culture (either immortalized or iPSC or primary neurons, preferably all three) is a plus.
    • High degree of computer literacy.
    • Sound analytical and organizational skills.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Structures logically and effectively tasks and set priorities.
    • Is able to identify potential problems and trouble-shoot solutions.
    • Demonstrates ability to analyze data statistically and to logically present it.
    • Shows strong interpersonal communication skills.

    • B.A., B.S. required, Master's degree or other advanced degree strongly considered.

    May be responsible for training and orienting new staff.
    • Normal laboratory environment.
    • Hazardous materials are used in some of the experiments conducted.
