Description of Work

The Research Technician in this position is responsible for:
1) Performing standardized molecular biology, tissue dissections, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, and genotyping.
2) Mouse colony and husbandry and procedures, including ear punching, intraperitoneal injection, whole tissue sampling, cardiac puncture, insulin and glucose tolerance tests, and customized diet preparation.
3) Responsible for general maintenance of lab equipment and lab management (i.e., ordering, tracking invoices, maintaining stocks and keeping up to date lab inventories).

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred: Two years of previous experience working in cell biology lab. Prefer candidates with a Bachelor in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or other science related field. Previous experience with molecular biology, tissue culture, histology and physiology techniques in mouse models of metabolic disorders are desirable.
