The Research Technician will work in the Life After Sport Trajectories (LAST) Laboratory with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and student trainees investigating long-term health in athletes. Research testing involves comprehensive testing of strength, function, cardiometabolic indicators, physical activity patterns, and dietary intake in male and female current and former athletes as well as non-athlete controls (www.lastlab.org ). The job’s primary purpose is to assist with research activities in the LAST Lab including conducting research recruitment, scheduling, testing, and communication with research participants; preparing for experiments and performing general lab maintenance; data collection, processing, and management; and helping manage student workers.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct participant recruitment, scheduling, testing, and communication.
2. Perform data collection, processing, and management – includes strength assessments, functional performance testing, blood draws, body composition (DXA) analyses, physical activity monitoring, dietary analyses, qualitative interviews, and questionnaires.
3. Manage hourly student workers.
4. Perform general lab maintenance including ordering supplies, preparing for experiments, organizing, and maintaining files and records.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences, athletic training, biomedical engineering, nutrition, dietetics, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Willing to work variable hours as necessary
Effective communication skills
Careful attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team setting
Ability to ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Clinical degree in athletic training, nursing, physical therapy, dietetics, or a related field
Master’s degree in nutrition/dietetics, exercise and rehabilitation sciences, sports and exercise analytics, athletic training, nursing, or a related field
Phlebotomy certification and experience
Previous research and/or clinical experience
Experience working with patients and/or human research participants.
Skills in database management (e.g., REDCap), IRB, programming/coding, creating, and managing a website, and/or graphic design
