The Lee Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a highly self-motivated individual to join as a full-time Research Technician. How do all the cells in our body have the same DNA but such different functions? Our cells have distinct abilities to develop into different organs, respond to tumor cells, or sense the world around us. This occurs because of gene regulation. Our lab research focuses on the role of gene regulation in establishing different cellular phenotypes and its contribution to cancer, specifically at the stage of mRNA translation. The candidate will be involved in both lab management and research activities, using a wide range of techniques, including molecular, computational, biochemical, and cell-based approaches. He/she will be expected to work independently with mentorship by a senior researcher in the lab, participate in lab meeting presentations, and be involved in collecting data for publications (with authorship if appropriate). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are essential.
This position requires a minimum bachelor???s degree in biology or related field. Must have at least one year of previous molecular biology lab experience. The ability to perform general molecular biology (PCR, cloning, bacterial transformation) and/or protein purification skills are highly preferred. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent time management skills, high level of initiative, and the ability to work both as a team player and independently.
