Occ Summary

The Bramall lab is looking for a full-time research technician/lab manager for a position starting Spring/Summer 2023. The lab uses genetic mouse models to explore the molecular pathways contributing to the normal production and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the brain. Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Mouse colony maintenance including animal handling, breeding and genotyping. Prior experience with small animal surgeries is an asset but not required  
  • Lab management including ordering supplies, maintaining internal and external lab protocols including liaising with the Duke division of laboratory animal resources  
  • Basic understanding of and/or willingness to learn common molecular biology techniques   
  • Coordinate with core facilities at Duke  
  • Excellent communication skills and dedication and interest in basic science research  
  • Must have some experience with basic cell culture methods, prior experience with stem cells is an asset

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field program.


Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE degree may offsetrequired years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
