Position Highlights

The Wilson Lab within Cellular & Molecular Medicine is seeking an inquisitive, well-organized, and highly motivated person for the position of Research Technician II. The candidate will perform data collection, laboratory techniques, and assist with and provide general laboratory support. Dr. Wilson’s NIH funded lab focuses on the establishment and maintenance of the integrity of the intestine and colon, and the effects of cytomegalovirus infection on colonic epithelial structure and function. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, conduct research experiments following detailed protocols. 
  • Perform basic set up of experiments for cultures, imaging, and assays, and help operate equipment.
  • Use general knowledge of methods and protocols of molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology to support data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Assist team with the development of research experiments with a focus on biochemical and molecular biology, including helping with the experimental design, identification of the appropriate methods, and troubleshooting best practices.
  • Aid in lab maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment from experiments.
  • Maintain records, logs, notes, and spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis.
  • Provide routine and technical administrative support to research projects including ordering, stocking, and cleaning basic laboratory supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences.
  • Prior experience with viral infections of mammalian cells, human colonoid cell culture, confocal microscopy, image analysis including Cell Profiler, and working as part of a research laboratory.
