Position Highlights

The laboratory of Dr. Fei Yin in the Center for Innovation in Brain Science (CIBS) is currently seeking a Research Technician II to assist on research projects related to mitochondrial dysfunction, lipid metabolism and metabolic reprogramming in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate should have research experience in the areas of neuroscience or bioinformatics and be comfortable and efficient in a fast-paced, collaborative, and growing research environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with lab staff and graduate students to carry out innovative research projects related to neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Perform experiments utilizing genetic, molecular, cellular and imaging approaches in both rodent and cell models.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment, machinery, and instruments used for research.
  • Sets up and performs a variety of lab or field tests and operations. Record results, makes observations, analyzes data, and interprets test results.
  • Collaborates in the development of new strategies, techniques, and equipment.
  • Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative results.
  • Provides research administrative support including acquisition of lab supplies, coordinating schedules, handling intake, maintaining records and files.
  • Provides routine assistance on general to moderately complex issues and requires the need to apply various techniques to accomplish this.
  • Performs a variety of laboratory or filed tests and experiments following detailed protocols. Sets up experiments and tests.
  • Operates, maintains and troubleshoots scientific apparatuses, equipment, and instruments.
  • Collects and complies research data. Completes basic calculations of test results.
  • Handles all aspects of information intake from study subjects.
  • Provides routine and technical administrative support to research projects.
  • Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in medical, biology, bioinformatics or related field.
  • Previous research experience in analyzing large-scale genomic, transcriptomic or metabolomic data using existing bioinformatic approaches.
  • Previous research experience in neuroscience and/or molecular biology.
  • Previous experience in rodent handling, cell culture, and other general cellular and molecular biology techniques.
