Position Highlights

The Research Technician will assist with the planning and execution of broad scope of ACABI Lab driven, government funded and industry sponsored cardiovascular studies involving human and animal subjects that require the application of scientific knowledge, experience, and extensive wet-lab skills. The role will be responsible for conducting experiments in a biomedical research laboratory (BCL-2), data collection and management, statistical analysis, and preparation of presentations, annual reports, and manuscripts. The Research Technician will work collaboratively with the principle investigator, Dr. Marvin Slepian, MD., ACABI senior researchers, and independently on the assigned research projects.

A successful candidate should possess advanced biomedical based computer science, data capture, biostatistics analytics, and artificial intelligence utilization and development expertise. They will be also responsible for the aggregation and processing of all data related to ongoing biomedical research projects, working hand in hand with ACABI researchers. The role will design, set up, and facilitate data analysis plans using known theories and methods to best serve the project, and met its end-goals. The selected candidate will help to assure the validity of the results obtained by ensuring the operational condition of lab equipment, maintaining protocols and SOPs, occasionally purchasing materials and supplies, and managing the efficient use of the lab's data management and analysis resources.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct research experiments independently with minimal supervision and in collaboration with principle investigator, senior researchers, and graduate students, using routine biomedical based computer science strategies, applications, data capture, biostatistics analytics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Collaborate on the development of the experimental design, identification of the appropriate methods, setup, and validation of methods, approaches and outcomes in biomedical based computer science applications, data capture and analysis, biostatistics analytics, as well as other innovative pathways.
  • Assist in the execution of multiple research projects in line with research plan. 
  • Ensure availability of all materials, supplies, and resources, and that an adequate access is available to facilitate all designated work.   
  • Assist in the formulation of research methods in accordance with the standards of peer reviewed journals and industry affiliates. 
  • Operate and maintain laboratory computers, digital recording and data capture equipment and devices. 
  • Support general equipment maintenance and repair efforts (cell counter, ultracentrifuge, micro-plate reader, microscope, specialized hematology equipment), to ensure its operational condition and assure validity of the data obtained through experimentation.  
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental protocols; collects and analyses experimental data using routine scientific, graphic, and statistical software, including Excel, PRIZM, MATLAB, and ImageJ.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
