Job Description
The Research Technician II, under general supervision performs semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of assignments requiring modification and adaptation to routine procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on the successful completion of tasks assigned.
Responsibilities:
-Help perform animal maintenance routines; tagging, moving, feeding, inventory, and health care.
-Record animal information on daily basis for the accurate record keeping of animal activities in support of research projects.
-Care for animals at McGregor to include health care; vaccinations, treatment of sick and injured animals, feeding and nutrition to keep them productive and healthy.
-Perform fencing, welding, cleaning, and construction to keep all facilities in optimum working condition.
-Operating and maintaining of large equipment to assist in small grains and row crop field preparation, planting, and harvesting.
-Help implement management of pasture including; application of herbicides and fertilizer and any other techniques to improve forage production and soil health.
-Perform maintenance and repair work on trucks and equipment.
-Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of experience in beef cattle production.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Use of standard office equipment and personal computers. Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
