Position Summary
Applications are invited for a full-time research technician position at Washington University in St. Louis, to work with Dr. Jeffrey M. Zacks in the Dynamic Cognition Lab in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences on federally funded research projects investigating the neural and psychological mechanisms of event comprehension and memory, including in healthy aging and early Alzheimer disease. Research will involve the integration of methods from functional neuroimaging, behavioral measurement, and computational modeling.


Job Description

This position requires traveling between the Danforth and School of Medicine campuses. The MRI scanner noise can be loud.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participant recruitment and scheduling.
  • Assists with coordinating undergraduate research assistants and research technician I staff.
  • Behavioral and cognitive testing, and data entry.
  • Assists with MRI data collection, quality control, and analyses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SPSS and/or R statistical programs, Excel, programming (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with structural and/or functional MRI processing and analyses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and take initiative.


Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, or a related field and one year of related experience or high school diploma or equivalent high school certification and experience equaling five years.
  • Prior research experience in a psychology research lab, though relevant coursework or research in related fields might count towards experience.

Salary Range
$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
