Research Tech II

Our lab in the Biochemistry Department in the Duke University School of Medicine is hiring a lab manager. We’re a collegial and inclusive group, studying mammalian cell signaling through protein glycosylation. Lab manager job responsibilities include both administrative tasks (e.g., safety, compliance, lab organization, ordering, negotiating with vendors, mouse handling and colony management) and original research, including the opportunity to conduct independent experiments and co-author journal publications. We’re looking for a smart, hard-working, responsible, organized, meticulous and genial candidate to begin soon (ideally June, start date somewhat flexible) to replace our current lab manager, who will begin a Ph.D. program this fall. A four-year college degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field plus at least one year of lab experience are required. Training in all skills and tasks will be provided for the right candidate. The job is full-time, but the schedule is flexible and could accommodate other commitments (e.g., caregiver responsibilities, volunteering outside the lab). The position is an excellent fit for someone seeking 1-3 years of research experience in preparation for other research positions, medical school or graduate school. To apply, please reply to this ad with a one-page cover letter in the body of your message and attach a resume with names and contact information of three references.
