Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting molecular biological experiments to investigate prostate cancer at Duke University.

Work Performed

Employee will perform a variety of duties:

  • Conducting general and advanced molecular biological experiments
  • Treatment on preclinical mouse models and maintenance of mouse colonies.
  • Operating the collection, tabulation, and calculation of data.
  • Preparing and managing cell culture media, chemicals, reagents and solutions.
  • Manage general activities in the laboratory including directing undergraduate (potentially early stage graduate) researchers to preform lab duties.
  • Maintaining sufficient inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for performance of duties; clean and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
  • Performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this level

Education/Training:

Prefer B.A/ B.S or higher degree in biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field.

Experience

Cancer biology and mouse models including xenografts are encouraged OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Skills

Mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, western blot, and qPCR are encouraged. Please still apply even if not all skills are known.
