Position Summary
The Research Technician will make initial decisions about issues with participants that would cause them to not be able to complete a research study. When unusual conditions or situations arise, the individual will consult with the supervisor about what course to follow. In
addition this individual will problem solve when problems arise in task administration.
This individual must be able to explain tasks to participants in a way that facilitates the participant's being able to complete the study.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans for human subjects.
  • Tests participants using cognitive and/or neuropsychological test.
  • Data processing.
  • Maintains participant files.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in psychology or neuroscience.   
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to make initial decisions about issues with participants that would cause them to not be able to complete a research study.
  • Ability to problem solve when problems arise in task administration.
  • Expertise with SPSS and/or R statistical programs, Excel, and web programming (e.g., Javascript, Python).
  • Previous experience working with patient populations.
  • Strong organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to get along well with graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduate students working as research assistants within the lab.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative on array of projects and duties each day.
  • Good computer skills (e.g., knowledge or potential to learn SPSS, R, Qualtrics, Excel, Powerpoint).

High School diploma or equivalent high school certificate and equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years or Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Salary Range
$15.30 - $20.48 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
