Job Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Li Zhang at the University of Texas at Dallas biology department seeks to fill an open position for a Research Tech I or II dependent upon qualifications. The tech will perform mammalian cell culture experiments or mouse experiments to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis or to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of therapeutic drugs. The experimental results will be published in scientific journals.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences; Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications for a Research Tech I:
Requires High School graduation or equivalent and six months of experience in scientific research work.

For the Research Tech I position preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in biology or related subjects along with experience with techniques of molecular biology, biochemistry, or related areas in a lab setting. The ideal candidate will have some experience with mammalian tissue culture.
Minimum Qualifications for a Research Tech II:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences; Two years’ experience in scientific or experimental research work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
To be considered for a Research Tech II, preferred applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or MS degree in relevant field (i.e. Biochemistry, Biology, health sciences). The applicant should have at least one year’s experience with techniques of molecular biology, biochemistry, or related areas in a lab setting. The candidate will have some experience with mammalian tissue culture.
*A Master’s degree is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
80% Carry out experiments to understand mechanisms of tumorigenesis
 and drug resistance.
20% Assist with general lab management and maintenance.

Additional Information
All applicants must have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and detail oriented. Preference will be given to those with strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, and other relevant programs.

Only one vacancy will be filled and either position may require other duties as warranted such as cleaning and stocking.
A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
