OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting standardized tests, experiments and determinations in support of research-oriented activities at Duke University. The Research Technician I will support research under the Walker R01 (Novel Biased ligands as asthma therapeutics).


WORK PERFORMED

The Research Technician I will play an important role in contributing to the success of Dr. Walker’s asthma research. The Research Technician will provide a wide range of support including bench research, animal research, lab organization, data analysis and interpretation, training students, collection and compilation of Lab SOPs, data, and results.

Organize and analyze Lab data in spreadsheets.

Learn asthma murine model techniques and assessments (allergen exposure, lung lavage, cytospin, lung processing for pathology, histological staining, and scoring).

Set up instruments, material and apparatus, and operate standard laboratory equipment required for specific tests. Clean and maintain standard laboratory equipment.

Operate various electronic devices in the collection, tabulation and calculation of data. Obtain, prepare, mount and stain tissue, blood, and other substances for microscopic examinations.

Assist in the development of new research procedures and techniques.

Maintain sufficient inventory of materials, supplies and equipment for performance of duties; clean and maintain standard laboratory equipment. Assist in the training of students.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Training:

Work requires a bachelor's degree in a basic or clinical science.


Experience:

Work requires 1 year of experience in data analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Work requires an Associate's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field.

Experience
