The position of Research Technician is a full-time term employment research position in the Coate Lab in the Department of Biology. The Research Technician will be conducting research for projects on inner ear neurobiology and will maintain some lab managerial duties. Responsibilities will include molecular and neurobiological bench work and histology, mouse colony maintenance, ordering, and instructing others.  The position of Research Technician will support the ongoing growth of the research program of Dr. Thomas Coate.

The Research Technician will work closely with other members of the Coate Lab research staff including undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.


  • B.A. or equivalent degree in the life sciences is required.

Preferred qualifications

  • Successful applicants will have at least 1 year of experience in a molecular-based research laboratory and be able to perform bench research independently. This position will include performing histology and imaging techniques, organ culture, Western blotting, and other molecular based techniques.
  • The successful applicant will also be willing to perform lab managerial and mouse husbandry tasks.
