The Ragunathan Lab at Brandeis University, situated in the vibrant city of Waltham, MA is located approximately 9 miles outside of Boston. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of epigenetic inheritance using genomics, genetics, biochemistry, and biophysics. As a Research Associate, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with a senior graduate student, fostering an environment that encourages independence and the development of projects leading to multiple authorships. We will hire for this position over the coming months with a target start date of May-July 2024, and will close the position once a new hire has been confirmed.

This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

â¢Bachelorâ™s degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field

â¢Minimum one year of hands-on experience either through research in a laboratory or course setting, demonstrating proficiency in RNA purification, chromatin immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, PCR, and yeast genetics

â¢Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team

â¢An emphasis on organizational and record keeping skills to ensure the conduct of rigorous and reproducible research

â¢A strong desire to learn and with an emphasis on being curious to pursue exploratory research- this typically means being a part of many different projects and pursuing many different ideas

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

â¢Conduct independent research, utilizing advanced molecular biology techniques

(e.g., chromatin immunoprecipitation, PCR, and yeast genetics)

â¢Design and meticulously document experimental protocols and procedures

â¢Provide critical support to ongoing research projects within the lab

â¢Actively participate in and contribute to weekly lab meetings, presenting research

findings and discussing relevant journal publications

â¢Participate in making figures for manuscripts and writing research publications
