This position is a key senior research technician FTE to support the Shipley Biorepository Core at BUSM. The Core will be based in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and led by Drs. Andry, Kulke and Dennis and Elizabeth Duffy. The successful candidate will be able to advance the laboratory’s research goal of understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to carcinogenesis and understanding and controlling pre-analytic variables in biospecimen collection and storage with a focus on prostate cancer. The work will involve subject screening, subject consenting, collecting human tissue samples, dissecting and processing samples (fixation and freezing), biospecimen archiving, maintenance of annotation (using RedCap© or similar software data base).
- BS, or equivalent degree in cell biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English are required.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
- U.S. permanent residency status or ability to obtain visa is required.
- Experience dissecting and processing biospecimens.
