THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the chair in Ophthalmology, the Research Technician 2 works to better understand the clinical and regulatory aspects of HEI's Clinical Trial Unit. This position participates in several research projects and has the responsibility of carrying out independent research related to the Master Uveal Melanoma Database.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 

  • Assists PI with patient recruitment, protocol visits and consent process, and schedules research appointments and follow-up visits.
  • Extrapolates clinical data from patient charts for review.
  • Oversees or performs processing, storing, and/or shipping of all study related specimens to required location.
  • Tracks petty cash needed for research trials and patient reimbursements distributed. 
  • Assists PI in monitoring of expenditures and earned capitation dollars for each clinical trial assigned.
  • Assists in contacting entities for needed services including pharmacy and laboratory services for required processing of specimens to include obtaining cost estimates.
  • Draft IRB applications and submissions; coordinates of IRB applications and submissions
  • Performs database generation and mining of existing databases.
  • Assists with manuscript preparation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of education and work experience to equal (8) years. 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Experience with database analysis.
    • Knowledge of ophthalmic diseases and health.
    • Knowledge of ocular tumors and pathology

    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
