Hiring Range: $19.10/Hourly

THIS IS A PART-TIME GRANT-FUNDED POSITION (20 HOURS PER WEEK)

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 primary function is to genotype mouse tissue samples by PCR and gel electrophoresis to identify mice/embryos with appropriate genotypes for experimental analysis. This position may also be involved in collecting mouse tissue samples and helping lab members to perform basic experiments (such as immunohistochemistry) or prepare lab reagents/solutions.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 

  • Collects genotype mouse tissue.
  • Gathers samples by PCR and gel electrophoresis of the collected samples.
  • Prepares reagents/solutions.
  • Conducts collection of mouse tissue samples for genotyping.
  • Assists laboratory staff with basic experiments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of related educations and work experience to equal eight (8) years. 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Previous experience in research laboratory.
    • Good communication skills and work ethic.
    • Ability to gain new research knowledge and skills.
