Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V for the GMP/PD Facility within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.  Under the direction of the Lab Manager, CMC of the GMP/PD Facility, the Research Teaching Specialist V will assist with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of the specialized GMP, PD, and research activities of the GMP Facility and Process Development group.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Participates in all processes and procedures required for pre-clinical research, Process Development and GMP manufacturing for future clinical application according to the FDA regulations as per the assignments of the CMC Manager. 
  • Performs professional and scientific research in the areas of tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy, especially with some knowledge of T cell biology, antigen presentation, T cell receptors and cellular therapy.
  • Maintains cell cultures and cell line stocks, conduct flow cytometry and molecular biology experiments (DNA and RNA analysis, cloning, gene expression analysis, protein analysis).
  • Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
  • Assists with training fellows, students and lab technicians in laboratory techniques as directed.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with assigned laboratory work and technical methods, with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities for productivity.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow laboratory safety policies and perform standard laboratory procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and user knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of research experience in tumor immunology and/or cell therapy and animal study.
