Position Summary:


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II for NJMS-Microbiology. This position is under direction, is responsible for the management of a medium-sized laboratory area. Designs and conducts highly specialized, technical research.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in the establishments of performance standards as well as the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
  • Performs various research and technical operations independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions, relating to Plasmodium biology and host infection pathways.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
  • Assists with the preparation of proposals, formal applications and justifications for grant applications.
  • Assists with the development of budget proposals for the laboratory area

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience,
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
