Position Summary:


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist I for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Research Teaching Specialist for the Affective and Clinical Neuroscience Lab (Lab Director: David Zald, PhD), housed within the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research and the Department of Psychiatry. The lab uses a combination of techniques to understand the structure of psychopathology and its neural correlates, with a particular focus on functional MRI.   The Research Teaching Specialist will perform conducting MRI and behavioral studies of patients with schizophrenia and related psychopathology. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs various research and technical operations related to ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory, with a specific focus on MRI and behavioral research of decision making in psychotic disorders.  
  • Develop experimental procedures for behavioral and MRI studies. 
  • Develop data quality control procedures. 
  • Train, supervise and coordinate research staff in conducting data collection. 
  • Perform statistical analyses.  
  • Lead or assist with manuscript preparation. 
  • Assist with grant development.  
  • Supervise data submission to data sharing repository.  
  • Supervise the maintenance of study documents and data including sensitive data containing confidential information. Assists with communication with the Institutional Review Board. 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant science, or a master's degree in a relevant science plus three (3) or more years of related research experience.  
  • Prior supervisory/lead experience an asset. 
  • Relevant Sciences include Psychological/Cognitive Science (particularly clinical/experimental psychopathology), or neuroscience. 
  • Experience with both neuroimaging research, clinical psychological science research, and specific experience working with individuals with psychosis is essential for the position.

  • Work Environment: Office (dry lab) environment. Moderate noise.
