POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides information to potential participants and completes study enrollment, collects data from medical records and participants, uses databases to keep study records, and resolves data discrepancies for the studies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regulatory and study initiation:  

  • Assist investigators with completion of necessary regulatory documentation to initiate, conduct, and complete studies. Communicate with regulatory offices including USF IRB and TGH OCR and maintain all documents and correspondence.  
  • Coordinate and schedule all study related appointments at USF Health and TGH. Updates enrollments logs at each of these locations. Coordinate subject stipends and reimbursements.  
  • Receive, inventory, regulate and safeguard investigational drugs and/or devices, supplies and confidential documents. Immediately document and resolve any discrepancies.   
  • Facilitate scheduled visits or audit by sponsors/regulatory agencies.   
  • Attend required protocol/research training (may require travel). The completion of annual certifications may be necessary for this position for USF & TGH credentialing.

Recruitment, screening, randomization and reporting:

  • Identify study subjects: Prepare recruitment materials, preliminary screen subjects, qualifications for each specific protocol; provide/arrange translation services as needed. Act as liaison between research volunteers and the research team.  
  • Educate potential subjects: Explain study procedures and informed consent process. Complete the enrollment process and obtain informed consents  
  • Schedule all study-related appointments which includes coordination with investigators and other department facilities as required by protocol.  
  • Randomize subjects if applicable after confirmation of eligibility.  
  • Transcribe study visit data to electronic or paper Case Report Forms within required time frame.

Clinical/medical assisting:  

  • Perform a wide range of research activities and patient care procedures.   
  • Track, record and file results, document in research chart and EDC if applicable.   
  • Perform phlebotomy and/or other research related biometric testing and placenta or other specimens; process collected specimens; prepare, pack, and ship per protocol.-Make follow up phone calls and contacts.

Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office or administrative support or in research support. College education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:    
Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant Preferred. Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred.  
Four years of experience in office/administrative support or research support. The ideal candidate will be skilled in word processing, skills for interacting with study subjects and USF health staff and sensitive to and responsive to study subjects.  
Knowledge of medical terminology, good clinical practices, specimen handling and shipping, and clinical trials.
OTHER:    
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
 Organized, attentive to detail, independent thinker and team player.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:    
Phlebotomy certification will be required. Certification training will be provided if applicants do not possess the certification.
